2. Stock Market failure, Bank failures, drought conditions.
3. Causes of the depression were overspeculation.
4. Govt Policy
Unstable Econ: Production for exceeded demand; wealth was unevenly distributed.
Uneven Prosperity: The rich were getting richer and the poor was getting poorer.
Over-production: Too much production of goods, not enough sales
Worker issues/ farm issues, poor working conditions, dangerous. Not enough water for crops.
Effects: Caused by changes in American society and economic policies, many of which linger to this day.
Poverty: An effect of the depression. Mass migrations reshaped the American mosaic. Crime rate boosted tremendously. More than 3.2 million people were unemployed
Solutions: WPA
Hoover: Pres.
Volunteerism: the policy or practice of volunteering ones talents for charitable, educational, or other worthwhile activities. especially in ones community
Public Works: Protected American business and farmers.
RFC: Reconstruction finance corporation
-independent agency of the United States Government during the Hoover administration.
Roosevelt: President Roosevelt.
New Deal: Restoring the economy from the top down
2nd New Deal: Period after mid-term elections.
Criticism:President's policies had to change.
Conservatives: People must be responsible for themselves.
Liberal: There are people in this world who need help.
Effectiveness: The degree to which something is successful.
Changes in the U.S.: Life is much more peaceful. 
Unions: PEople who agreed with something would form groups called unions.
Culture: Huge music and art culture.
